Born in Nassau in 1953 and admitted to the Bar of England & Wales, Lincoln’s Inn in 1978 after completing his legal studies at the College of Law in London, Mortimer is one of the country’s leading authorities on shipping and maritime law.
Stephen A. Turnquest / Partner
Stephen Anthony Turnquest was born in Nassau in 1958. Mr. Turnquest received his LLB from the University of The West Indies in June 1985. He earned a Certificate of Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica in 1987. Mr. Turnquest was called to The Bahamas Bar in the same year and is a member of The Bahamas Bar Association. His practice areas include Commercial and Civil Litigation (including personal injuries), Employment Law, Insolvency, Admiralty Law and Medical Malpractice.
Simone Morgan-Gomez / Partner
She has been practicing in The Bahamas since 1997 and specializes in Commercial Litigation involving: Employment, Insurance, Insolvency, Trusts, Agency and Multi-jurisdictional Contracts. Mrs. Morgan-Gomez speaks English and Spanish.
Courtney L. Pearce / Partner
Courtney Pearce received her B. A. in International Politics from Colgate University in New York. Ms. Pearce went on to study at the University of Buckingham where she graduated with Upper Second Class Honours in 2005. During her year at Bar School, Ms. Pearce was very active in the Pro Bono Legal Advice Centre of the College of Law and negotiated a settlement between her clients and their local Council in a property dispute. Ms. Pearce was called to the Bar in England and Wales in July 2006 and to the Bahamas Bar in December 2006. She currently works in litigation and is building her specialization in Corporate and Trust Law.
Cheryl D. Cartwright / Partner
Ms. Cartwright’s responsibilities involve advising on multi-jurisdictional legal issues, and acting as a Pupil Master. Her areas of practice include Insolvency and Liquidations, International Commercial Litigation, International Commercial Transactions, as well as limited work with Conveyance, Mortgage and Property Law. Ms. Cartwright has served as an Acting Deputy Registrar of the Court of Appeal, served as Chairman and Board member on various government bodies, and was the founding Vice-President of the Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers.

Ms. Bootle was called to the Bar of England and Wales (Lincoln’s Inn) in July, 2015, The Bahamas Bar in September, 2015 and joined the team at the Nassau office of Callenders & Co. that same year, having interned with the firm for six consecutive summers. Ms. Bootle is a member of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, UK and The Bahamas Bar Association. Her areas of practice include Conveyance, Mortgage, Property Law, Wills, Insolvency and Liquidations and she is building her specialization in Maritime Law.

Commencing my tertiary education at the then College of The Bahamas, I obtained an Associates in Law and Criminal Justice with honours in 2017. Subsequently, I pursued the law program at the University of The Bahamas, earning my Bachelor of Laws Degree with honours in 2020. Continuing my legal journey, I enrolled in the Eugene Dupuch Law School, where I distinguished myself as the best-performing Year 1 student in Criminal Practice and Procedure.
