In October 2009, Mr. Smith received the honour of appointment to Queen’s Counsel, the highest appointment a member of the Bahamas or the UK Bar can achieve. The title of QC, which entitles the bearer to address the highest court in the U.K., the Privy Council, has been bestowed on fewer than one percent of The Bahamas’ practicing attorneys.

Born in Nassau in 1953 and admitted to the Bar of England & Wales, Lincoln’s Inn in 1978 after completing his legal studies at the College of Law in London, Mortimer is one of the country’s leading authorities on shipping and maritime law.

Mr. Malone is very knowledgeable of the trial and appellant processes of the Courts. He has also served a short term as the Assistant Registrar (Acting) of the Supreme Court of The Bahamas.
Stephen A. Turnquest / Partner
Stephen Anthony Turnquest was born in Nassau in 1958. Mr. Turnquest received his LLB from the University of The West Indies in June 1985. He earned a Certificate of Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica in 1987. Mr. Turnquest was called to The Bahamas Bar in the same year and is a member of The Bahamas Bar Association. His practice areas include Commercial and Civil Litigation (including personal injuries), Employment Law, Insolvency, Admiralty Law and Medical Malpractice.

Courtney L. Pearce / Partner
Courtney Pearce received her B. A. in International Politics from Colgate University in New York. Ms. Pearce went on to study at the University of Buckingham where she graduated with Upper Second Class Honours in 2005. During her year at Bar School, Ms. Pearce was very active in the Pro Bono Legal Advice Centre of the College of Law and negotiated a settlement between her clients and their local Council in a property dispute. Ms. Pearce was called to the Bar in England and Wales in July 2006 and to the Bahamas Bar in December 2006. She currently works in litigation and is building her specialization in Corporate and Trust Law.
