I. A. Nicholas Mitchell has been steeped in public law and commercial litigation, and his practice grew to include criminal defense, testament to his strength and persuasion as a believer in fairness, and justice. Regarded as a skillful and clever advocate with a creative approach to the law, Nicholas has earned his stripes in and out of the courtroom. A graduate of Kent Law School at the University of Kent in England, he was admitted to the Bar of England Wales in 2012 and called to The Bahamas Bar in 2013. His career began as Crown Counsel in the Office of the Attorney General, where he first served as a civil litigator before becoming a prosecutor. Nicholas then transitioned into the private sector where he excelled as a civil and commercial attorney.

Applying a research-based approach, he is adept at distilling complex legal issues to develop incisive strategies to get the best results for his clients. His depth of knowledge is derived from a continuous accumulation of experience locally, and internationally, having worked with some of the best legal minds in the region. Proud to serve his country in any capacity, and in recognition of his dedication, he received a constitutional appointment to The Public Disclosure Commission of The Bahamas – a role he accepted and fulfills with the utmost pride and integrity. Mitchell has worked with and been trained by leading Bahamian and British Silks, and one of the top mining, land and human rights chambers in South Africa. He has picked up proficiency in a number of foreign languages having done immersion programs in Spain, and China in between studies.

Revered as one full of ambition and intention, this attorney leads a well-rounded life, exploring his deep curiosity for languages and cultures while traveling the world as often as he can. Nicholas boasts of being a champagne connoisseur and collector as well as being an Epicurean enthusiast. His passions in life span a variety of hobbies and leisure activities including yoga, powerlifting, reading, tennis and being a lover of Formula 1 Racing and a supporter of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Mitchell has a passion for giving back, offering his time and support to numerous community initiatives aimed at bettering the lives of Bahamians.
