Lavar Dante Jordan Ferguson is a Counsel and Attorney whose work is characterized by diligence, strong research instincts, and a measured, strategic approach to advocacy. Motivated by a deep respect for fairness and the rule of law, Lavar is committed to ensuring that every client is heard, understood, and vigorously represented. He brings a balanced mix of practicality and insight to his matters and is known for approaching complex legal issues with clarity, discipline, and sound judgment.

His legal journey began at the University of The Bahamas, where he completed both his Associate Degree and Bachelor of Laws with consistent academic distinction. He continued this trajectory at the Eugene Dupuch Law School, where he refined his skills in statutory analysis, ethical practice, and courtroom advocacy—building the foundation for the attorney he is today. Called to the Bahamas Bar in 2024, Lavar entered practice with a firm understanding of litigation strategy, procedural requirements, and the importance of steady, evidence-based advocacy.

Since joining Callenders & Co., Lavar has appeared before the Magistrate’s Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal, representing clients in a broad range of matters including constitutional applications, commercial disputes, land and title issues, contractual disagreements, immigration concerns, trust matters, and criminal defense. He is adept at drafting detailed pleadings, affidavits, and submissions, and brings a patient, methodical approach to the development of legal strategy. Influenced by his grandmother’s adage “what is worth doing, is worth doing well”, his work reflects a commitment to precision, preparation, and the belief that strong advocacy begins with a deep command of the law.

Lavar’s approach is influenced not only by legal training, but by his grounding in community, culture, and faith. As an Anglican, he is active in parish life and youth mentorship at Holy Cross Church and the greater Diocese of The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, viewing service to the Church as an extension of his broader commitment to public engagement. He is also a longstanding cultural participant in Junkanoo and member of The Valley Boys, contributing musically and organizationally to one of the country’s most powerful expressions of identity and communal pride. These experiences shape his understanding of people, community, and justice, and bring a unique depth to his practice.

For these reasons, Lavar was confirmed as an Associate immediately upon completion of his pupillage. With a growing body of litigation experience and a commitment to integrity, preparation, and continuous improvement, Lavar continues to build a well-rounded and principled legal career. He approaches each matter with seriousness, empathy, and professionalism, ensuring that every client receives advocacy grounded in both competence and care.
